Universal Language

Being able to read body language and micro expressions at the poker table is a huge advantage, especially at a table full of amateurs who are just out to have a fun time.  Many are not aware of the cues they’re giving off - when they’re squinting, where their eyes are directed, the way they handle their cards and chips, what their feet are doing, how much they’re talking, what they do with their hands, how they play with their jewelry, when they swallow, everything they’re saying by not saying anything at all…is a tell. At the poker table, the only language that you need to be fluent in is body language. Body language is a language we lose with texting, commenting, talking on the phone, and even Botox, leaving plenty of holes left open for miscommunication and deception.

Like micro expressions at the poker table, the earth has tells too, that are more reliable and honest than a language based on words. There’s a universal language the planet speaks to every life connected to it - it’s a language of patterns, behaviors, and stimulation of the senses. The universal language is also in danger and is lost with pouring cement on everything, blocking our senses with buildings, walls and ceilings. We can’t even hear past traffic or the music that is constantly being played everywhere at all times, except a library. We lose touch with the other animals, plants, fungi, sky…everything that gives us energy and keeps us going is now forced to communicate with us through domesticated trees and manicured gardens, chlorinated water and animals running out of the way of cars, or what’s left of them in packages at grocery stores. Being human in society is like sitting at the poker table with a blindfold on relying on someone else who is blindfolded to tell us what’s being dealt and how it’s being played.
