The Spirit of Handmade

Anything handmade carries a piece of the artist’s spirit with it and is parallel to the hand that makes it...it is vulnerable and on a journey. It’s the closest thing to having an object come to life.

Making something by hand isn’t about making something perfect, it’s about making something human.

Perfect objects might never age, never break, and have a lot of replicas, yet the spirit gets lost in it’s roboticness...not like handmade. Handmade things have a fragility to them - they have vulnerability, carry emotion, and always have room for growth. And though the object might not last forever, what does last is the feeling that comes with it...the connection...it’s less about the object and more about the spirit that’s carried inside.
