The Healing Powers of the Desert

As I’ve come to Joshua Tree to find safety from society, instead I’ve found that even in the desert, there is no place on Earth without its challenges, and no environment can be controlled. But with the lessons I’ve gathered along this journey, I am also learning how to sit in the flames, ride them out, let go of all that doesn’t serve me, in order to grab hold of true freedom.

This new batch is the reminders I’ve been using to push through and stay focused on the light ahead.

They will be available today at 12p Pacific Time.

May all your dreams come true✨,

“I am Human”

Being human is not for the faint of heart.  By even being on this Earth, your journey has given you specific challenges to battle...and because of it, you are brave, capable, and strong.  Society tries to turn us into a machine...an object...perfection.  But the beautiful thing about being alive is the freedom to be imperfect.  Just by being on this Earth, we are learning how to live...there is no practice round.  We get one chance to make it count.  It is your journey and yours alone.   Break free of the cage of being perfect, fight for it, and embrace the freedom of being human.

”Reach Out”

Sometimes the hardest thing is to reach out.  That feeling of not wanting to be a burden is heavy.  But in difficult times, I think about the short time I worked at a wilderness therapy program, (I quit because I didn’t think they were being ethical), but the kids that were struggling the most were the ones who refused to ask for help and insisted on carrying more than their share of the group weight in their backpacks.  Kids who knew their needs and their limits and asked for support when they needed, were farther along in the program and more confident and content with themselves.  So in dark times, I am practicing pushing through that feeling of needing to handle everything on my own to reach out.  It is human and the most necessary need for survival.  We are not alone.  There are more struggling, too.

There is humility in knowing I am stronger if I don’t do it alone.   Reach out.

”Be the Light”

Keep reaching for the light.  Trust yourself.  Listen carefully to the little voice inside you.  It’s easy to get buried under all of society’s noise.  But that little voice is your ticket to freedom.

”Into the Fire”

Truth is found in the flames of life, and those who find it, don’t run from it, they run into it.  Survivors can feel other survivors energy.  There’s no bullshit.  No putting a bandaid over to feel better.  No denial with positive toxicity.  No games.  No hidden agenda.  No standing by and idly watching.  Pure authenticity backed by a fierce heart.  They’ve sat in the fire, they’ve made it out of the fire, and instead of spreading the fire, they’ve turned the fire into a light and then gone back in to help others find their way out, too.  You can tell a survivor because you feel completely safe being your truest self around them.  I’m not speaking about myself, here.  I’m not there, yet.  But I’m doing my best to follow in their footsteps.  I’m speaking about the people who’ve reached out...or I felt safe enough to reach out to, because I felt their fearless loving energy.  Thanks for showing me the way, and giving me a heads up of what’s to come.

”I am Stronger with my Imperfections”

By putting this front up that you live a perfect life...covering yourself up with looking perfect, behaving perfect, buying the perfect decor for your house, and presenting the perfect life to everyone else, you end up burying yourself even more and making it more difficult for others as well as yourself to be seen, felt, heard, understood, and loved.  It’s a very lonely world being perfect, being cool, being smart, being mysterious, being someone else, being strong without letting anybody see how you got there.  Where does that get anybody anyways?  It’s the same as being buried alive.  You are stronger with your imperfections.  Wear this bracelet to remind you that it’s ok to be imperfect, it’s ok to be human, it’s ok to be you.

”Desert Walk”

By depriving myself of what I believed to be love, I have found the real thing. And they feel nothing alike.

“I Own my Voice”

You own your voice.  You are allowed to use it.  And nobody can take it away from you.  You just have to be willing to use it.
