Spirit Travel

There are other ways to travel than putting yourself in a different physical location. Travel can go deeper than that - beyond the physical and tangible world - it can be immersing yourself in a world outside your own mind and body…getting outside of what is familiar. And this can be done by studying another creature we share this planet with, learning the plants and figuring out how it might experience the world, or digging deeper into your own spirit and understanding your own behaviors and what makes you do certain things or behave in certain ways. Travel doesn’t have to be about going far away to get the most out of this world, out of this life…it could be staying in one place and seeing how much you can take in from right where you are.

Travel by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, or stems, or exoskeletons…imagine what it would be like to see in heat, sonar, or electricity. To be able to taste the world with your feet. Did you know humans don’t see the full spectrum of colors? Many species see in UV. Imagine seeing the world glow! All of a sudden the place that you are is 500 places…infinite places to be explored, seen, studied, and understood.

Connect with something outside your comfort zone, outside of your family, friends, and dog. Try a bug, a plant, a rock…open up your world to something beyond the realm of being human. Step out of your spirit for a day and travel through the spirit of another’s.

You don’t have to go very far to find magic, you can just step outside your self or go deeper within.

Male tarantulas have sensory organs in their legs from which they can smell and taste, while their hairs all over their body helps them pick up vibrations.

Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes are pit vipers that sense heat with their pits in order to find prey.

Red-tailed hawks can see a mouse from 100 feet away with their binocular eyes, and can dive at 120 mph to catch it.
