Missing Person

Do you ever look at yourself and not recognize the person looking back at you?  When you don’t know what your mother or father look like, your face is made of complete strangers.  In your own photo, it’s like looking into the people who made you but at the same time, not being able to see them…not being able to see yourself.  It’s like seeing yourself and having two strangers staring at you.  Two people who were supposed to love you, but left you without a word - just disappeared.  Two people you are wired to love since birth but gutted you for life instead.  Always buried in your reflection…in your face…in your eyes.  When I wonder about them, I look at myself, and I tell myself, “There they are.  They look like me…the answer is right there in the photo…in the reflection…in the mirror,” but at the same time, I can’t see them at all.  It’s like not being able to see a part of me.  It’s like part of me will always be estranged.  It’s like part of me will always be missing.
