Cravings
I get cravings for places like some get cravings for food. Instead of appeasing just the senses of my tongue and stomach, my skin, nose, ears, eyes, lungs, and heart get ravenous for a specific ecosystem and the sensations it brings. Lately, my whole body is growling to be deep in the dusty, howling wilderness of Wyoming, where the scent of sage rides the wind, and the echos of a loon ooze across the river sending the call of the wild shooting into my ears and through my veins alerting the primitive hairs upon my skin to wake. Missing the big skies strong enough to hold all of nature’s moods - through her raging storms and glorious sunsets, through casts of fiery light and bites of freezing nights. Starving for the songs of coyotes, dances of osprey, and traces of bear, stirring the woods and feeding the spirit of the forest, making it roar to life.
Wyoming - where the rivers breathe and the wind howls.
