Chasing Home

I feel like a little hermit crab moving along in my shell, slowly but just enough to get by.  I don’t feel like I have anything to say these days other than just rolling through the motions.  Surprisingly, I don’t feel depressed.  I still feel grief for Malcolm, but at the same time I feel at peace.  Or maybe I’m catching up from months of needed rest.  Who knows.  But my mind was finally quiet enough to read my book and slip into someone else’s thoughts.

Arrived in Seattle today.  The temperature is a bit cooler than Portland, and I can wait out the week easily here at Alki Beach while I wait for a replacement cooler to ship.  Alki has been a favorite spot since the first or second year of living in a van.  So now, it just feels like home.  And right now, all I feel like doing is chasing around that feeling of home.

Peek into the van as I’m tucked into bed parked along Alki Beach in Seattle, Washington.  The fridge is missing because the first one broke the first night in Canada.  The replacement they sent arrived damaged.  Now I’m going with a different brand that is shipping from Florida.  Should arrive next week.
