Battle of Medicine Bow

Last night was grim. Many mice lost their lives at the Battle of Medicine Bow National Forest. May they Rest In Peace.

There’s nothing in this world that I fear more than mice. Nothing. I’d rather sleep in a room with a bear, a snake, a lion...anything but a mouse. But every time I come through Colorado, in they come - scratching, chewing, scurrying and pooping like they own the place. Luckily, this was not my first rodeo, and I was armed and ready with plenty of traps and peanut butter.  Still, they terrorized me all night, and I was behind on sleep, so didn’t get much work done today.

I did manage to complete the custom-sized orders made over the past few days and made a single Spirit Bracelet that will be named “Rabbit Ears” after the rock formation visible in the distance from the campsite (last photo in this post). I’ll post the bracelet when I get a stronger signal.

I’ve changed locations and will be sleeping in my trusty tent tonight. Like I said, would rather sleep with bears, lions, and snakes than with a mouse. If I get one more mouse tonight, I think I’ll be leaving Colorado.

Thanks for the supportive and funny messages! It’s at least nice feeling like I’ve got people with me while I am living and breathing my worst nightmare. 🤷🏻‍♀️
