Art and Adventure
I believe art and adventure light up the same part of the brain - the part that handles discomfort, being out of control, and where everything else yields to curiosity.
So much of art is about getting comfortable in the unknown and being open to the unplanned - getting messy and exploring - being out of control and getting into the flow of everything inside you and around you. Turning the mess into something beyond your imagination, and then letting it take you to a place you never knew existed. It’s definitely not about feeling safe all the time. It’s definitely not about being in control. If anything, the deeper into art you go, the freer you are from yourself and wanting to be in control.
And if I replaced the word art with adventure, I wouldn’t change a thing.
